OBIT: Joan Ackley

Joan Ackley, 84, of Nora Springs, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs. A memorial service for Joan will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd.

Joan Ackley, 84, of Nora Springs, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.

A memorial service for Joan will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd with Pastor Paul Phillips officiating. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Rudd.

A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given directly to the family.

Joan Esther (Philipp) Ackley, the daughter of Andrew and Esther (Marth) Philipp, was born on December 1, 1939, in Osage. Grandma Jo, affectionately called by all those who knew her, had a very loving and generous heart. Her family and friends were the most important to her and she loved spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Mark (Nancy) Ackley; daughter, Kim (Tim) Hofler; daughter-in-law, Julie Ackley; grandchildren: Eric, Andrew, & Savanna Young, Timothy (Caci) Hofler, Mark Ackley, Jr., Krysta (Tyler) Scheer, and Phillip Ackley; great-grandchildren: Jensen, Rustin, and baby Scheer; brother, Roland (Brigitte) Philipp; and sister-in-law, Jeanie Paulus; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, son, Larry Ackley, and brother, Alton Philipp.
