Jacob L. McGrane, 31 of Spencer, IA and formerly of Kensett passed Friday, July 26, 2024.
Memorial Services to honor his life will be 11am Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring Street, Manly, IA. Inurnment in Manly Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9am to 11am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project or suicide prevention.
Jacob Lynn was born November 16, 1992 in Mason City, the son of Terry Lynn McGrane and Stephanie Lao Allison. Growing up in the Kensett area, he was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church. Jacob attended Northwood-Kensett High School, graduating with the class of 2011. He was always on the go, between football, wrestling, chess club, National Honor Society, DECA, Math Club, FPS and so many more contributions. Jacob was always thinking, always planning the next move, even leading the start of the business courses at NK High School. Following his graduation, Jacob continued his education at UNI, taking in all of the information and material he could. In 2015 he began his service with the United States Marines. Serving in California and later a few years in Japan before his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 2020.
On March 16, 2022, Jacob married Samantha Hagen, his best friend. They enjoyed watching sports, traveling, and spending time with their two dogs and cats. In December 2022, Jacob graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelors Degree in Business Economics. At UNI he was involved in the Economics Club, Finance Club, and the UNI Veterans Association.
Surviving are his wife, Samantha McGrane; parents, Terry (Kristi) McGrane and Stephanie Hamm; grandparents, Ken and Lynn Joregensen and Dorothy McGrane; brother, Parker Cota, sister, Ella McGrane, brother, Lincoln McGrane, sister, Sydnie (Braiden) Cota, and sister Libby (Ken) Bell; aunts and uncles, Jamie (Brent), Lisa (Rick), Karen, Deanna (Kevin), and Jeri Jean; as well as many cousins, extended family and cherished friends.
Preceding him in death are his sister, Olivia McGrane; grandpa, Stephen Allison; cousin, Zackery Henderson.
