Lauren J Taylor, 73, of Clear Lake, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Concord Care Center in Garner, Iowa.

Lauren was born on June 15, 1951, in Boone, Iowa, to Frederick and Laura (Fey) Taylor.

After graduating from Boone High School in 1969, Lauren went to work for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. He worked for railroads in Iowa and Wisconsin for decades before retiring in Clear Lake, Iowa. In 2007, Lauren was united in marriage to Karry Goggins.

Lauren had a great love of music, especially blues and zydeco. He often traveled to see his favorite bands. His great joy in life was spending time with family and friends, and he made friends wherever he went.

Those left to cherish Lauren’s memory are his wife Karry Taylor; his children Jessica Taylor Erwin (James) of Des Moines; Graig Taylor (Anna and son, Alexander) of Johnston; his grandchildren Silas and Archie Erwin; his sister Lee Anne Taylor of Kiawah Island, South Carolina; his brother Fritz Taylor of Phoenix, Arizona; his nephew, Jacob Taylor of Houston, Texas; and his niece Kayla Taylor of San Diego, California.

Lauren was preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Laura Taylor; and Georgia Robertson, his former spouse and mother of Jessica and Graig.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lauren’s name to the North Iowa Cultural Center & Museum which maintains the historic Surf Ballroom.
