Mason City couple seriously hurt when Harley-Davidson crashes into power pole

ROCK FALLS - A Mason City couple was seriously hurt early Sunday morning near Rock Falls when their Harley-Davidson motorcycle left a curved roadway and struck a power pole.

ROCK FALLS – A Mason City couple was seriously hurt early Sunday morning near Rock Falls when their Harley-Davidson motorcycle left a curved roadway and struck a power pole.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a motorcycle crash occurred Sunday, July 28, 2024, near Rock Falls. At about 3 AM, a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by 45-year-old Christopher Douglas of Mason City along with his passenger, 35-year-old Amanda Malfero of Mason City, was northbound on Spring Street at Rock Falls when Douglas failed to negotiate the curved roadway. The motorcycle left the road and struck a power pole. Both Douglas and Malfero were thrown from the motorcycle. Neither motorist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

As a result of the incident, both Douglas and Malfero were transported to Mercy One with serious injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Mason City EMS, Northwood EMS and Plymouth first responders.
