Mary Kuhfus, 90, of Iowa Falls, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024 at her Iowa Falls residence. A private family visitation will be held at Woodley Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. Following the visitation Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Radcliffe Cemetery. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Iowa Falls is caring for Mary and her family.

Mary Ellen Kuhfus was born on April 27, 1934, the daughter of William and Mary Opal (Jones) Norris in Leon, Iowa. Mary received her education in the Radcliffe Community School District.

On June 24, 1952 Mary was united in marriage to Charles Kuhfus at the Evergreen United Church in Sherman, Iowa. Charles and Mary started their married life at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois. They had two children, Linda and Ron. When Charles completed his service, they moved back to Iowa to start farming with family and to raise their children. Daughter Lora joined them several years later and together the family of five lived and enjoyed life on the farm near Buckeye until moving to Iowa Falls in 1980.

Mary spent many years as a homemaker, taking care of her husband and kids. She also worked for several years at the Iowa Falls Police Department, cleaning. Everyone at the PD enjoyed seeing her around the office and quite often, Mary brought baked goods for the officers to enjoy.

Mary loved to volunteer at the thrift store in Iowa Falls. She kept her mind sharp with crossword and jigsaw puzzles and she enjoyed crocheting, doting and bragging about her children and grandchildren as well as having coffee and chatting with her neighbors at Cedar Ridge. She loved her romance novels, enjoyed singing, especially with her sisters and teaching her grandchildren how to do headstands.
