SLATER, IOWA – Police say a drunk driver crashed into this Iowa Casey’s store, landing the offender behind bars.
According to the Story county sheriff’s office, the incident took place on July 10, 2024. “Deputies Dobson and Sassman responded to an incident at Casey’s in Slater, where a vehicle collided with the front of the store,” the law enforcement agency reported.
“Thankfully, no one was injured.”
The pickup truck seemed to have collided with the front door at the convenience store. There was shattered glass all about. Deputies were on-site conducting a field sobriety test on a suspect.
After the investigation connected to the car crash, the driver was arrested for OWI (2nd offense), failure to maintain control, and operating a motor vehicle without a license or permit.
