STORM LAKE – After a violent crime, cops in Storm Lake raced to the scene and were able to track suspects to a house, where they barricaded themselves in to try and avoid arrest.
Early this morning, there was a heavy police presence in the 700 block of Lilly Court due to an armed robbery and assault reported in the area. Several victims sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Storm Lake Police Department Officers and Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office Deputies tracked the suspects to a residence located at 725 Lilly Court. Upon attempting to make contact with the occupants, the situation escalated into a barricaded standoff.
Members from the Storm Lake Police Department Tactical Team, Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Department SERT Team and a Storm Lake Police K-9 Unit set up a perimeter around the residence and evacuated several nearby residences to ensure the safety of the neighborhood.
After several hours, officers successfully took ten individuals into custody. During a search of the residence, detectives located two stolen handguns and other evidence pertaining to the investigation.
While police have cleared the area, the investigation is ongoing.
