Shirley Ann Andersen, 96, of Mason City, IA passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Heritage Care Center in Mason City, IA.
A Graveside service will be held at a later date.
She was born on September 6, 1927 to Walter and Carmen (Cook) Bisgrove in Clear Lake, Iowa. After graduating Clear Lake High School in 1945 she attended Mason City Junior College, and then continued her education at the Iowa Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls.
She taught 4th grade in 1947/1948 in Greene, IA. She then decided she was better suited to be a bookkeeper for her parents at their Egg & Hatchery Business in Manly, IA.
Shirley married Budy Andersen on July 17, 1963. Family was everything to her with outings to East Park, Clear Lake, and summers at the cabin on Lake Jefferson, MN. After Bud passed away she spent 14 winters in Mesa, AZ with her sister Mary and Bob Davis. She loved sewing and arts and crafts. As she aged gracefully, she loved her weekly coffee group at Hy-Vee.
Into her 90’s her love for chocolate and ice cream was shared with many as she traveled the little towns of Iowa looking for Mom and Pop ice cream parlors to taste their delights.
Those left to cherish memories of Shirley are her son Marcus Andersen and grandchildren, Stephen Andersen, Stacy (Justin) Merritt, Amy Krueger, Christopher (Shama) Blau, Joshua Blau, many great and great-great grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Budy Andersen, daughter Mony Kleinendorst,daughter-in-law Debbie Andersen, her parents and in-laws, sister, Mary (Bob) Davis, brother, Don Bisgrove and many other family members.
