MASON CITY – A garage is a total loss and two other nearby homes in Mason City suffered damage after a Monday night fire.
According to Deputy Chief / Fire Marshal Jamey Medlin, on July 1, 2024, at 9:03 pm the Mason City Fire Department was dispatched for a garage fire at 116 15th Street NE. 911 was called by a neighbor that noticed the fire.
Fire crews arrived and found a garage that was fully involved in fire and radiant heat damage to structures nearby. Two houses and a garage near the garage on fire did have vinyl siding that melted and deformed from the heat. The garage with the fire is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is undetermined currently as the fire is still under investigation. Additional details
will be released as the investigation is completed.
The Mason City Fire Department was assisted by the Mason City Police Department and Alliant Energy.
No injuries were reported.
Emergency crews cleared the scene at 10:53pm.
