Carole M. Bothwell, age 95, of Mason City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.
She was born on August 13, 1928, in Pipestone, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Marie (Madison) Reusse.
Carole married Kenneth Bothwell on September 6, 1949, at St. Gabriel Church in Fulda, Minnesota, beginning a loving partnership that lasted for 51 years until his passing in 2001.
She was a devoted mother to her three children, Steve, Scott, and Kristin, and a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carole was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where she found great joy and community through her involvement in the St. Therese circle and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
In her leisure time, Carole was an avid bridge player and even earned the title of Life Master and enjoyed being a part of the Mah Jong Club. She had a passion for fishing and sports and could often be found cheering on her favorite teams. Above all, Carole cherished moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Carole will be remembered for her kindness, her love of family, and her commitment to her faith and community.
Those grateful in sharing in her life include her children, Steve (Julie) Bothwell, Scott (Janelle) Bothwell, and Kristin (Mark) Anderson; grandchildren, Carl (Amy) Bothwell, Heather (Marc) Foelske, Naomi (Shane) Wells, Matthew (Shell) Anderson, Heather Niles, Jenny (Dustin) Jensen, Nathan (Brenna) Bothwell, and John (Kelsey) Bothwell; great grandchildren, Parker, Gage, Jaxon, Sophia, Jase, Logan, Madison, Calla, Lily, Kason, Kyler, Kiwi, and Neveah.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ken; and granddaughter, Sara.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Epiphany Parish – Holy Family Catholic Church, 722 N. Adams Avenue, Mason City. Burial will follow in Elmwood – St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.
Visitation with viewing will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas will pray the Rosary beginning at 4:30 pm.
Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Carole’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Newman Catholic Schools.
