OBIT: Karen J. Burkhow

Karen died Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt. She was 79.

A funeral service for Karen J. Burkhow will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Buffalo Center. Burial will be held in the East Lutheran Cemetery in rural Rake. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.

Karen Jean was born May 26, 1944, the daughter of Max and Viola (Luckow) Alsdorf. She grew up on the family farm outside Ceylon, Minnesota and graduated from Ceylon High School in 1962.

After high school Karen was united in marriage to Leslie Burkhow on January 25, 1963 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wilbert, Minnesota. They were blessed with five children.

She was proud to be a homemaker, caring for her children and husband. Karen’s favorite time was spent with her family, which she put first with her big heart. She enjoyed baking, cooking and her flower gardens.

Karen died Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt. She was 79.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leslie Burkhow of Thompson; children, Sheri (Leslie) Mercer of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Jeffery Burkhow of Thompson, Daniel (Alicia) Burkhow of Thompson, David Burkhow of Thompson, and Michael (Neil Gleason) Burkhow of Seattle, Washington; six grandchildren; and brother Ronald Alsdorf of Fairmont, Minnesota.

Preceding her in death are her parents; granddaughter Jennifer Mulhausen; brother Melvin Alsdorf; sisters-in-law Joice and Jaylene Burkhow; and brother-in-law Ronald Burkhow.
