Kevin “Gordy” Ellingson, 70, of Iowa Falls, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at his home, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. A casual public visitation will be held from 2-4 PM on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at the Woodley Funeral Home in Hampton. He will be laid to rest with a family graveside service at the Union Cemetery. Woodley Funeral Home is caring for Kevin and his family.
Kevin Gordon Ellingson was born on September 27, 1953 to L. Gordon and Verdonna Mae (Swift) Ellingson in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Kevin graduated from Iowa Falls High School class of 1972.
Kevin was a farmer all his life and believed if you work hard, you can play hard and he sure did both. Kevin was an innovative farmer and shared his knowledge and techniques with his son, Chase. Although it was not unusual to hear a curse under his breath at Chase while they were working together!
When Kevin and his boys were younger, they loved the action of Motor Cross Racing and later raced Modifieds together in Webster City and Fort Dodge. He enjoyed hanging out with friends at Grumpy’s Bar, drinking BV or taking a cruise in his shiny black Camaro or on his Harley Davidson. Most of all, Kevin was so very proud of his new grandbaby, Laynee. Spending time with his family made him the happiest.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Chase (Alyssa) Ellingson of Iowa Falls, Iowa and Dustin Ellingson of Iowa Falls, Iowa; granddaughter, Laynee Ellingson and sister, Vicki (Larry) Swart of Iowa Falls, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Verdonna Ellingson and his beloved dog, Spike.
