OBIT: Dianne Cheryl Kutzner

Dianne Cheryl Kutzner, 77, beloved wife of Richard Kutzner, passed away early on Monday Morning, October 9, 2023, in her Glen Rose, Texas home, surrounded by those she loved.

Dianne Cheryl Kutzner, 77, beloved wife of Richard Kutzner, passed away early on Monday Morning, October 9, 2023, in her Glen Rose, Texas home, surrounded by those she loved. A funeral mass was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Glen Rose, Texas; with Rev. Fernando Preciado officiating.

A graveside service will be held for both Dianne and Brian Kutzner at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Concord Cemetery, Garner, Iowa; with Rev. Paul Lippstock officiating. Following the graveside service the family and friends will gather at the Clear Lake VFW, 219 Main Ave., Clear Lake, Iowa; with military honors conducted by members of the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868.

Dianne was born on September 22, 1946, in Alameda, California to the late Milton and Estelle Smith. After high school graduation, Dianne continued her education receiving her special education degree from University of Maryland. In Maryland, she taught for several years helping her students continue with vocational placement in the workforce. Later, she was a teacher at the Braille Institute of America as a youth and adult counselor. Other work history includes working as a lab tech for General Dynamics-General Atomic, Health Physics Nuclear Lab and Micromanipulator Company.

Dianne proudly served her country in the United States Army for 21 years. During her time in service, she was a chemical operations specialist for knowing all operations in her division in biological, chemical and nuclear operations. While on assignment in Germany serving their country, Dianne met Richard Kutzner; they were united in marriage on December 18, 1981, in California; they were blessed with their son Brian.

A devout Catholic, Dianne taught Catholic education including confirmation classes for many years. Additionally, she was known for her love of others and for her willingness to help anyone in need.

Dianne and Richard loved traveling together in their RV visiting family and friends on their way! She had a love of baking Christmas cookies, sharing with all the neighborhood friends. Dianne was an avid reader, she enjoyed running and biking. Richard and Dianne ran together in a half marathon in remembrance of their son Brian. She was a great support to Richard while he was training preparing for running different races. Dianne’s greatest love was spending time with her son, grandchildren and family.

On August 1, 2009, Brian Ricky Kutzner died from injuries from a motorcycle accident. Dianne loved and cherished her family, most of all her son Brain whom she dearly missed.

Dianne is survived by her husband Richard; siblings, Colleen, Michelle and Bob; grandchildren, Jason, Tyler, Liz; great-grandchildren, O ’sten and Rowen; brother-in-law Kenton Kutzner; special cousins Dale (Kathy) Snyder, Dave (Vickie) Snyder, Jane Snyder; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dianne was preceded in death by her beloved son, Brian and special cousin Don Snyder.
