SCOTT COUNTY – An Iowa man was hurt in a car accident and as police investigated, they learned that he had murdered a woman, leading to the discovery of her body.
On March 14, 2024 the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident with injury near the intersection of 90th Street (210th Street) and Harrison Street in Mt. Joy. This is near the entrance to the Mt. Joy Airport.
The driver of the vehicle is identified as Christopher Behal (pictured at top) of Park View, Iowa. During the accident investigation, information lead to the discovery of a female deceased body in Park View, Iowa.
Behal was transported and treated for his injuries at Genesis East Hospital. Once cleared he was taken into custody by the Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Scott County Jail for Murder in the 1st Degree and outstanding warrants. He was also charged with second-offense drunk driving and other domestic abuse crimes.
The victim’s name was initially withheld pending family notifications. Soon thereafter, the victim’s identity was revealed as 31-year-old Taylor Escontrias (McKee) from Park View, Iowa.
Police are continuing to investigate.
