Acea Spiegeler, age 34, died unexpectedly on February 23, 2024 in Riceville, IA.

Acea Dean Spiegeler was born in Iowa City, IA on March 12, 1989 to Dwight and Constance (Abel) Spiegeler. Acea grew up in Riceville from the age of nine months with grandparents Larry and Elaine Abel, at his father’s request, following an auto accident which took his mother’s life on December 25, 1989.

Acea was baptized on June 4, 1989 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville. He confirmed his faith at St. Peter’s Lutheran on April 13, 2003. Acea enjoyed participating in Boy Scouts and Taekwondo during his younger years. He was active in both athletics and music while attending school in Riceville. Acea graduated from Riceville High School with the class of 2007. He enjoyed the friendship of all his classmates, and was a “super” wildcat fan! He continued his education at NIACC for two years, where he was enrolled in the computer program and participated in track. A few years later he switched directions and took a year of culinary courses.

Acea enlisted in the United States Air Force from June 2009-2011. He completed electronic principals and the F-22 integrated avionic systems apprentice course. He was able to work on his beloved jets, even though he couldn’t fly them. In 2015, he enlisted in the Iowa National Guard 1133 Transport Co. out of Mason City, IA.

Acea married Kellie (Klenk) Clark on July 20, 2016; to this union four children were born. Acea and Kellie later separated.

Acea worked at several jobs over the years including: Winnebago, Casey’s, McNeilus Steel and most recently Iowa Select Farms. He moved back to Riceville in 2023. He missed his hometown, family, church and friends.

He loved special times with his children: Annabelle (8), Constance (7), Charles (6) and Lillian (4). Acea enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, long walks in the woods, cooking and grilling and visiting with anyone that passed by.

Survivors include his grandmother Elaine Abel of Riceville, father Dwight Spiegeler of Milford, IA, four children: Annabelle, Constance, Charles and Lillian Spiegeler of Plymouth, IA, three stepchildren: Alexis, Alex and Ayden, grandparents Gary and Nancy Espinosa, mother in-law Barbara Scharper, two uncles (who claimed him as their little brother) Todd (Rise’) Abel and Brian (LeAndrea) Abel. He is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts and cousins.
