MASON CITY – Today, Christian Hermanson is proud to announce his candidacy for Iowa House District 59. Hermanson will be retiring from the U.S. Air Force this spring after 29 years of distinguished service.

Hermanson (pictured at top, via his campaign website) is running for Iowa House because he believes it is time for new leadership in House District 59 and that it is time for the next generation to take the baton.

“The citizens deserve a representative who will effectively carry their voices to the Capitol in Des Moines, and I am ready to accept that challenge,” Hermanson said. “I am running to be a representative that will lower the tax burden on Iowans, increase public safety, improve our infrastructure, and take the concerns of my constituents to the Statehouse.”

A native of North Iowa, Hermanson is currently assigned as a Reserve Senior Leader with U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany and will retire at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He has deployed around the globe multiple times throughout his career in support of contingency operations and the Global War on Terror. In his civilian career, he works in property management and has previously served on the front lines of the drug and homeless crises as a police officer with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Hermanson lives in Mason City with his wife, Angela. The couple are proud parents of two adult sons and grandparents to three beautiful granddaughters.

I wonder how far right he is. If he has any brains, he must noticed that Ms Steckman has done a wonderful job for us and she keeps getting re-elected. If his agenda is the same agenda our Governor has, I wonder if he will run on that or, like most North Iowa Republicans, he won’t run on any of the tough issues but will seem like he is center of the road until it comes time to vote. How many of our House members from N Iowa said they were listening to their constituents on the AEA bill, then went ahead and voted for the governor’s proposal.
