BURLINGTON – Cops did not hesitate to arrest and jail a woman who fired her gun as she encountered vandals about to throw eggs at her house.
On February 26 2024, at approximately 10:48 PM, Burlington, Iowa police officers responded to a report of a single gunshot being heard in the area of Maple and S. 8th St. While conducting the investigation, officers located evidence of a shot being fired from a firearm. Officers further learned a resident at 810 Maple St., identified as Iva Ellen Cale (pictured at top), was upset with individuals attempting to throw eggs at her residence. Cale admitted to shooting one round as a warning shot.
Cale was charged with Reckless Use of a Firearm.
