Cops discover videos, messages and other evidence of sexual relationship between Northern Iowa teacher and student

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, IOWA - A Northern Iowa teacher turned herself in on felony charges after cops uncovered explicit evidence of a sexual relationship she allegedly carried on with a young teen student.

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, IOWA – A Northern Iowa teacher turned herself in on felony charges after cops uncovered explicit evidence of a sexual relationship she allegedly carried on with a young teen student.

In September of 2023, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a possible sexual relationship between a Humboldt Middle School teacher and a Humboldt High School student. The student/child was under the age of sixteen (16) at the time of the initial report.

In October of 2023, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (D.C.I.) became involved in the investigation at the request of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout the investigation, many interviews were conducted and multiple search warrants were granted for electronic devices, social media platforms, and physical addresses. As the investigation unfolded, physical evidence, videos, instant messages and physical contact between the two were discovered. These acts began on or about June of 2022 when the student/child was fourteen (14) yoars old.

On February 26, 2024, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office arrested Samantha Meyer-Davis (pictured at top), 31, of Rutland, IA. Meyer-Davis turned herself in to the Humboldt County Law Enforcement Center after a warrant was issued for her arrest on the original charges of sexual abuse in the 3rd degree (Class C Felony) and sexual exploitation by a school employee (Class D Felony).

Meyer-Davis was able to post the $15,000 cash bond and was released with a court date of February 29, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. In addition, a no-contact order was issued by the court between Meyer-Davis and the student/child.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation were assisted by the Humboldt County Attorney’s Office, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Humboldt Police Department, and administration of the Humboldt Community School District.
