Donald Joseph Geraets, 85, of Mason City, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Epiphany Parish St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Donald Joseph Geraets, 85, of Mason City, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Epiphany Parish St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 5th St SE. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family of Donald Geraets.

Donald J. Geraets was born In Dell Rapids, South Dakota on October 31, 1938, to parents John and Johanna (Slinger) Geraets. Donald grew up on the family farm and graduated from St. Mary’s in Dell Rapids. After high school Donald joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in December of 1958. On August 16, 1960, he was united in marriage to Rosetta Tebbe. The couple called Sioux Falls home where Donald began working for Crescent Electric. In the spring of 1970, he transferred to Mason City where he worked for Crescent Electric for 42 years. Donald was an avid Hawkeye fan. He was an active member in St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Donald is survived by his wife, Rosetta; children, Dawn (Roger) Nelson, Tim Geraets, Michelle (John) Ernzen, Serena (Paul) Albracht, Troy (Jennifer) Geraets, Niccole Geraets; grandchildren, Christopher (Shawna) Belcourt, Samantha Nelson, Taylor Hapgood, Gabriella Geraets, Hailey Luebe, Riley Luebe, Sean Geraets; great grandchildren, Alicia, Trinity, Johanna, Graycnn, Emily, Izabella, Remington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Johanna (Slinger) Geraets.
