BREMER COUNTY – Drivers that refused to yield may have ended p with nails in their tires Thursday in Bremer county as authorities attempted to clear the sharp objects off the busy roadway.
The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office reported that drivers refused to get over Thursday as a cleanup effort was underway on the Avenue of the Saints.
would like to remind the public about the mover over law after a situation last night.
“We were sitting north of the 201MM on Highway 218 after receiving a call about garbage in the roadway. That garbage turned out to be a couple hundred nails in the left/median lane,” the Bremer county sheriff’s office said.
“As we waited for a broom we were directing traffic to the other lane trying to keep cars from driving over them. We had several vehicles failing to yield and change lanes, let alone even slow down. We observed 5 cars/semis run over this makeshift spike strip because they failed to slow down and change lanes as the law states you must do.”
The lawbreakers might have gotten some karma later, but, “the good news for them was there was only one available deputy so those who broke the law did not get stopped and ticketed but the bad news is you probably ended up with nails in your tires. Please slow down and move over when approaching ANY vehicle with emergency lights or hazards activated.

It is their right to drive over those nails. Why should they be forced to move over? That is a violation of their Constitutional rights. (for those of you who don’t understand this, it is sarcasm, born from the right wing political nuts (you know who you are))
