Dawn Michelle Skrepak, the daughter of Albert Lubben and Dorothy (Hendershott) Tucker, was born on September 19, 1955, in Oak Park, IL. She died on February 6, 2024, at her home in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 68 years.

Dawn attended Addison Trail High School before marrying John Skrepak on July 8, 1984, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Chicago. Together, the couple raised five children: Tim, Heather, Holly, Dorothy, and Dawn.

Dawn loved being a grandma, playing bingo and card games, baking, watching I Love Lucy reruns, chatting on the phone with family, taking cruises, and feeding wild birds.

Dawn battled countless health challenges throughout life, including 45+ surgeries and a war with breast cancer that she eventually won. She overcame the odds over and over in a way that shocked those around her. Her strength and courage through decades of struggle were an inspiration to those who knew her.

John and Dawn were an incredible team and held each other up through family challenges, financial hardships, and health struggles. They never gave up on each other and exemplified a love that was sacrificial, loyal and unfailing. Whether a dinner date night. a dance in the kitchen or a YouTube serenade – they didn’t let their romance die. And as they faced some of life’s biggest challenges, they kept on loving each other.

She is survived by her children, Tim (Tina) Skrepak, Heather Goodman, Holly Hansen, Dorothy (Justin) Stith, and Dawn R. Skrepak; her grandchildren, Austin (Melissa), Ashley, Avery, and Alijah Skrepak; Shauna and Allyson Goodman, Ashton Cable; Haizley and Dove Hansen; Natalie, Emma, Olivia, Ava, and Mollie Stith; Lucy Jarvis; great-grandchildren, Samuel Skrepak and Mira Goodman; her sister, Sherry (Steve) Johnson; half-siblings, Matthew Lubben, Adam (Deb) Lubben, and Kristina (Ben) Bungarty.

Dawn is preceded in death by her husband, John Skrepak; parents, Albert Lubben and Dorothy Tucker; her brothers, Daniel and Aaron Lubben; and sister Debi Monroe.
