Jean Ann “Jeannie” Miller, 72, of Charles City, IA, died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on January 1st, 2024.

She was born in Elmira, NY on February 23, 1951, to John and Irene Casil. At the age of three, Jeannie moved to California with her family where she graduated from Ramona High School. After high school, she worked at the Ontario Speedway. She often reminisced about her time at the Speedway.

After starting a family, Jeannie moved to Hesperia, CA in 1987 with her husband Herb Miller and two sons, Garret and Derek. Jeannie worked in the Hesperia School District until retirement. The school district is where she made a lot of her life-long friends.

Jeannie and her family enjoyed camping and making trips to the mountains and the beaches in California. In her free time, Jeannie enjoyed crafting, quilting, and taking photos. In her home, you can find photo albums and quilts she put together in every corner. They will be memories the family can treasure for years to come.

In 2021, Jeannie relocated to Charles City, IA to be near her son, Derek, and his family. Jeannie loved her grandchildren and was happy being able to be closer to spend time with them during her last two years.

Jeannie had a big heart for all animals large and small. In her lifetime she always had a pet. At any time, you could find Jeannie with dogs, cats, birds, turtles, a hedgehog, or rabbits. Her beloved dog Molly was by Jeannie’s side when she passed away.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents John and Irene Casil; her husband Herbert Kaul Miller, and her brother Wayne Casil.

Jeannie is survived by her two sons with Herb: Garret K Miller and Derek W Miller (wife Heather Miller); five grandchildren: Alexya Maree Naranjo (19), Katelyn Elizabeth Miller (18), Hunter Kaul Miller (12), McKenna Renee Miller (12), and Wyatt Kaul Miller (11); her brother Michael Casil; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Jeannie is also survived by her loving life partner Paul Arnold of Big Bear City, CA. Jeannie and Paul first met in the 2nd grade and dated in high school but eventually went separate ways. After Jeannie and Paul were both widowed, they reconnected online and have spent the last nine years doing life together.

In lieu of a traditional service, Jeannie wished to be cremated and taken back to California at a later date. Jeannie would love for memorial donations anyone wished to make be made to PAWS Humane Society, PO Box 651, Charles City, IA 50616.
