Patricia Morey, 89, of Greene, Iowa, completed her earthly journey and went to be with her Savior on Christmas evening, 2023, at Newton Village Care Center where she lived for the past seven months. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 29, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church in Greene. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the church and will continue until the time of service. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Greene is caring for Patricia and her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Calvary Baptist Church in her memory.
Patricia Jane Morey was born January 30, 1934, in Greene, Iowa. She was the eldest of the four daughters of Leonard and Leona (Heinmiller) Morey. She was educated in the Greene school system and then attended Iowa Teachers College where she earned her degree in education. She later attended Drake University, completing her Masters degree.
Patricia was a teacher in the Sheffield-Chapin School District for more than 35 years, teaching middle school mathematics and later was a school counselor. She was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Greene. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, a great cup of coffee, and loved to read.
Patricia is survived by her two sisters: Joyce Freese of Newton, IA, and Evelyn (Bill) Hay, Eden Prairie, MN, as well as 10 nieces and nephews, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Barbara Sletten, brothers-in-law Richard Sletten and Richard Freese.
