Women’s College Basketball: #4 Iowa faces Minnesota in a Saturday afternoon Big Ten contest

IOWA CITY - The #4 Iowa Hawkeyes face rival Minnesota on Dec. 30. Tip-off is set for 1 PM inside a sold-out Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The game will broadcast on BTN and the Hawkeye Radio Network.

IOWA CITY – The #4 Iowa Hawkeyes face rival Minnesota on Dec. 30. Tip-off is set for 1 PM inside a sold-out Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The game will broadcast on BTN and the Hawkeye Radio Network.

Iowa is off to its fourth 12-1 start under Lisa Bluder. The Hawkeyes won the 2023 Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla., with three games in three days. Clark was named the Tournament MVP. Last game out, Iowa defeated Loyola Chicago, 98-69.

Season tickets for the 2023-24 University of Iowa women’s basketball team are officially sold out.

THE SERIES
» Iowa leads the all-time series, 56-27.
» Iowa is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings with the Gophers.
» Iowa currently holds a 33-8 series advantage in games played in Iowa City against the Golden Gophers. The Hawkeyes have won the last 13 in a row played at home against Minnesota. The Gophers are in search of their first series road win against Iowa since pulling out an 80-78 (OT) overtime victory on Jan. 14, 2007.
» The first ever meeting between Minnesota and Iowa was played in Iowa City on Dec. 6, 1974, with the Hawkeyes capturing a 55-33 victory.

» Minnesota owns an 11-1 overall record this season
» The Golden Gophers are currently riding an eight-game win streak.
» The ‘U’ has posted three of its top five largest margins of victory this season with the 55-point win over Lindenwood being the fourth-largest in program history.
» Maggie Czinano’s double double against Lindenwood (12 points, 10 rebounds) is thefirst of her career. She is the sister of former Iowa great, Monika Czinano.
» Minny defeated Drake this year in double OT, 94-88.
» Minnesota is tied for the youngest team in the Big Ten with Wisconsin with 10 underclassmen (does not include redshirts in their third year of college).
» Despite the youth on the team, the Gophers still return 55.9 percent of their scoring from last year’s team.
