Ruth Evelyn Pannhoff, 92, of Solvang, California, formerly of Mason City, Iowa, passed away December 20, 2023 in Solvang.
A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.
Ruth was born May 12, 1931 in Toeterville, Iowa, daughter of Roy and Laura (Newman) Beaver and youngest of ten children. She graduated from Rudd High School with the class of 1949. Ruth was united in marriage to Merle Pannhoff February 9, 1951 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She was a devoted mother and raised her family while working on the farm.
Ruth was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church as well as the Keynote Singers while she resided in Mason City. She loved to dance, sing, and listen to music. Ruth also enjoyed embroidery and the many winters she and Merle spent together in Arizona. Since moving to California in 2017 to be near Janita, she was a welcoming presence at the Atterdag Village Retirement Community and a valued friend to many of the residents and staff there. The memories of her support, wit, and friendliness will be cherished by all those who knew her.
Those left to cherish her are her children, Gene (Julie) Pannhoff of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Janita (Patrick) Cavanaugh of Solvang, California; daughter-in-law, Vicki Pannhoff of Owasso, OK; grandchildren, Mike (Lily) Pannhoff, Andrew (Katrina) Pannhoff, Teresa (Ryan) Barnard, Dylan Pannhoff, Erik (Lindsey) Frampton, Ann (Trevor) Cavanaugh Pattison; 9 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Merle; son, Terry Pannhoff; parents; brothers, Bill, Ralph, Marvin, and Lester; and sisters, Helen Leidal, Esther Parmenter, Joy Delaney, Mary Pryor, and Alice Merical.
