Violet Steffen, 94, of Osage, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. A funeral Mass for Violet Steffen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage.

Violet Steffen, 94, of Osage, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

A funeral Mass for Violet Steffen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Reverend Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Osage.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the funeral Mass at the church on Tuesday.

Violet Steffen was born June 8, 1929 at Riceville, Iowa, the daughter of John and Gladys (Phillips) Nicholson.

Violet married Raymond “Chuck” Steffen on January 6, 1945 in Osage. This union was blessed with two children: Raymond Dean and Brenda Lee. Violet was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she belonged to the St. Teresa Circle. She had many hobbies which included crocheting, fishing and camping with her husband in Northern Minnesota and spending time with her family. Violet especially loved quality time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Living family members include her two children: Raymond “Dean” (Diane) Steffen of Orchard and Brenda (David) Meyerhofer of Riceville; four grandchildren: Gary (Verna) Steffen of Cresco with their children Garrett (fiancée Amanda Zehnle), Madison (significant other Jordan Miller) and Nathan (Courtney) and their children Ashlyn and Coleson; Jerry (Karen) Steffen with their children Rachel, Ryan and Laura (Dan) Block and their children Thomas (fiancée Ava Pruin) and Annamarie; Bryon (Rose) Meyerhofer with their children Tyler Smith, Keila (Jeremiah) Frien and their children Easton, Jaxon and Brindly Larson and Tiegan Frien; Taylor (Peter) Walvatna with their children Carter and Brooks; and Kaitlain Meyerhofer; her sister, Gloria Dishinger; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents; step-father; husband, Raymond “Chuck”; great-grandson, David Allen Block; sister, Dorothy Kiefer; two brothers: James and Richard Nicholson; and two nephews.
