Marcia L. Colson, 66 of Clear Lake passed Saturday, November 25, 2023.
The family celebrated her life on Saturday, December 2, and she has been laid to rest beside her parents at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
Marcia LaVonne was born January 28, 1957 in Hampton, IA the daughter of Lester M. and LaVonne M. (Roline) Colson. She grew up in Rockwell, IA, graduating from Rockwell High School in 1975. Most of her adult life was spent living in Clear Lake, IA where she primarily worked as a florist and interior designer. Later in life, Marcia obtained a cosmetology degree and was working towards opening her own business, The Zen Spa, just prior to her passing.
Marcia was well known as a strong independent woman who enjoyed laughter, being the life of the party, and in most recent years, focused on bringing peace and serenity into her life. Her love for her community meant spending time exploring the shops of Clear Lake and supporting small business owners. People in the community most recognized her for her passion of fitness and health. Her love for flowers, gardening, genealogy, and history spoke to the depth of her spirit.
Those left to continue her story are her children, Tanya (Eric Griffen) Deets of Clear Lake, Jamie (Brian) Thoe of Kenosha, WI and Travis (Kristina) Colson of Urbandale; grandchildren, Erica Griffen, Lily and Lukas Deets, and Briar and Brice Thoe; a great-grandson, Ivan Wolfe; siblings, Marilyn (Don) Christian, Janice (Frank) Ramirez and Roger (Brenda) Colson; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Preceding her in death are her parents as well as aunts and uncles, including her aunt, Martha Heins whom she cared for over the years.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to those who provided empathy and care to Marcia in her last days.
