Jaqueline “Jackie” Ann Gott, 86, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Good Shepherd Care Center’s Chapel, 302 2nd St NE, Mason City, Iowa, with Pastor Kent Mechler Officiating.

Family suggests that memorials be directed to the Iowa Department for the Blind, 524 4th St, Des Moines, Iowa.

Born on March 13, 1937, in Galt, Iowa, Jackie, the daughter of George and Maxine (Rice) Dutton, graduated from Riceville High School’s Class of 1955. A few years later she began living in Mason City and raising three children. Once her kids left the nest, she found fulfillment as a live-in caregiver for the elderly, cherishing the opportunity to care for others and hear their stories.
In her youth, Jackie dedicated herself to crafting numerous quilts, leaving a lasting impression as her children fondly recall navigating around quilting supplies scattered throughout the house. Her love for reading blossomed during her time working at a library.

As the years passed, Jackie faced visual impairment, necessitating more support than she had anticipated. Transitioning to life at Good Shepherd altered her activities, with a newfound enjoyment of listening to the radio and television, especially when NASCAR races are on.
Jackie’s perspective on a happy life was simple: “don’t worry.” True to her own advice, she embraced each day fully, remaining resilient in the face of challenges.

Those left to cherish memories of Jackie are her children, Melanie (Tammy Steinwandt) Muth, Ben (Joyce) Gott, and Melissa Gott; grandchildren, Charity Muth, David (Natalie) Muth, Jessica Gott, Nathaniel Gott, Cody Gott, Chris Wright, Dallas McDaniel, Dustin (Christina) Gott, Tristan Hansan, Daniel Joslin, and Dillon Gott; great grandchildren, Gracie, Landry, and Avery Muth, Kayden Cerwinske, Kayleigh Gott as well as fifteen other great grandchildren; siblings, Richard (Jeanie) Dutton, Sandy Krause, and Karen (Bob) Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carmen.
