Barbara Ann Abrams of Northwood was called home on November 16, 2023. A Memorial service will be held 12:00 pm Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Conner Colonial Chapel.

Barbara Ann Abrams of Northwood was called home on November 16, 2023.

A Memorial service will be held 12:00 pm Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 1st Avenue South, Northwood, with Rev. Neil Manternach of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Inurnment will follow in Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Barb was born January 28, 1938 to Anthony and Liliann (Vilt) Winkels. She grew up in Austin, Mn,. the eldest of 5 children. She attended and graduated from Pacelli Catholic school in 1956.

As a young woman she learned ballroom dance at the Terp in Austin. This is where she met and fell in love with Robert Abrams and the 2 were married in 1961. Making their home and lifelong friends first in Dubuque and later in Northwood. Together they raised 3 children.

Barb was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic church in Manly. She retired from Worth County Recorder’s office in 2001 and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of the County Bells, and numerous card clubs. Barb will be remembered for her infectious smile, her kind soul, her giggle, and her cooking. (Especially her roast and dumplings.)

She made a difference in the lives of everyone who met her. She made the world a better place.

She is survived by her children, Janet Dixon, Chillicothe, Mo. Michael (Polly) Abrams, Northwood; 4 grandchildren, Megan (Nick) Monsen, Connor (Lindy) Dixon, Lauren (Jonathan) Rice, and Jordan (Shane) Miller, and 5 great grandchildren, Kailyn, Abby, Millie, Rowdee, and Maverick; her brothers, Tom (Mary) Winkels, Richard (Terri) Winkels, and David Winkels; sister in law, Jane Schroeder; and brother in law, Steve Davis, along with many nieces and nephews.

Welcoming her in heaven were her daughters, Katherine and Debbie; her parents, Bob, sister, Linda; mother and father-in-law, Marie and Don Abrams; sisters-in-law Judy Abrams, Betty Abrams, and brothers-in-law Kenny Abrams, and Jim Schroeder; and nephew, Jeffery Abrams.
