College Basketball: Iowa State faces Grambling today in Hilton Coliseum

This will be the second meeting against the Tigers for T.J. Otzelberger, as Iowa State faced Grambling State in the fourth game of the Otzelberger Era at Iowa State. Iowa State is 38-1 all-time against the SWAC, including a 2-0 record against Grambling State.

Former Cyclone Terrence Lewis plays for Grambling State. Lewis appeared in 71 games for the Cyclones from 2017-20, making a pair of starts. He averaged 4.5 points per game over his career, scoring 322 points and grabbing 103 rebounds in his career.

Grambling State’s Jalen Johnson will be making a trip to Hilton Coliseum for the second time in two years, as he was a member of the Milwaukee men’s basketball team last season. Johnson scored eight points in 22 minutes, with three rebounds, in Iowa State’s 68-53 victory over the Panthers.

Grambling State Head Coach Donte’ Jackson is a Milwaukee native, just like Iowa State Head Coach T.J. Otzelberger.

Iowa State scored 85-plus points for the third-straight game, as the Cyclones beat Idaho State 86-55 Sunday. It marks the first time since February 2019 that Iowa State has scored 85 or more points in three-straight games. Tre King and Keshon Gilbert led the Cyclones with 16 points each, while Curtis Jones scored 14 off the bench. Milan Momcilovic added 11 points. Gilbert had a team-high six rebounds, while Omaha Biliew and Demarion Watson each had five. Tamin Lipsey led the Cyclones with five assists and four steals.

The Cyclones will play VCU in the opening round game of the ESPN Events Invitational on Thursday, Nov. 23. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. (CT) in Orlando on ESPN2. It will be the third meeting all-time between the Cyclones and Rams, with each of them coming at a neutral site.
