Donna F. Eggena, 83, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the IOOF Home in Mason City surrounded by her family.

Donna F. Eggena, 83, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the IOOF Home in Mason City surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, November 16, 2023 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 4th St SE, Mason City with Pastor Sid Bohls officiating. Inurnment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City at a future date.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 15, from 4 pm until 7 pm at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, and will resume one hour prior to Donna’s service at the church on Thursday.

Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Donna’s honor in care of her family.

The daughter of Tip and Vivian (Hildebrand) Piper, Donna Fay was born on February 17, 1940 in Mason City. She attended Mason City High School.

On July 15, 1965 Donna was united in marriage to Fred Eggena in South Dakota; he would precede her in death on March 20, 1996. Donna then met Daryl Kluender and they have been blessed with 18 years of love and companionship.

In her free time Donna enjoyed traveling on the motorcycle, rides in the car with Daryl, crocheting, and observing wildlife. She was a loving and attentive mother and cherished the times spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donna will be remembered by her family for her beautiful crocheted blankets which were made as treasured keepsakes for every grandchild.

For over thirty years Donna worked at Mercy Medical Center until her retirement in 2002.

Those grateful in sharing in her life include her soulmate, Daryl Kluender, Orchard; children, Barbara Peters, Mason City, Penny (Rick) Jindra, Mason City, and Michael (Deena) Craig, Mason City; daughters in law, Sheila Craig and Tracy Craig; Daryl’s children, Vernon Kluender and Katie (Nate) Woods; 12 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren; siblings, Gene (Linda) Piper, Terry (Linda) Piper, Tip (Darcy) Piper, Jr., and brother in law, Delbert Witt; as well as her nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; sons, Duane and Randy Craig; daughter in law, Julie Craig; grandsons, Bryon Craig, Devin Craig, and Jeffrey Jindra; brother, Richard “Butch” Piper; and sister in law, Dorothy Witt.
