Mark C. Rasmussen, 70, of Mason City passed away on November 9, 2023. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Major Erickson Funeral Home.

Mark C. Rasmussen, 70, of Mason City passed away on November 9, 2023. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. Interment will be held in the Coulter Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family of Mark Rasmussen.

Mark Craig Rasmussen was born July 3, 1953, at Franklin County Hospital in Hampton Iowa, son of Carl Anders Rasmussen and Mary Lou (LaRue) Rasmussen. He grew up in Nevada Iowa with his parents and two brothers and two sisters. After Nevada Community Schools, Mark went to ISU to earn a bachelor’s degree and to Drake University to earn a master’s degree. He loved to spend much of his time outdoors hiking and fishing, enjoying the many parks in Iowa. He lived in Northern Iowa much of his adult life, finally settling in Mason City 12 years ago when he settled into the Shalom apartment and spent much time watching his beloved sports teams on television.

Mark is survived by brother Mike Rasmussen of Nevada and sisters Cindi Rasmussen of Nevada and Cristi Carr of Loveland, Colorado and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Monte Rasmussen of Johnston, Iowa.
