Terry Dean Northrup, 64 of Garner passed away in his home, October 19, 2023.
Terry was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on December 5, 1958, to Dale Leslie Northrup and Anna May Shunkwiler (Northrup). Terry grew up with his family in Cedar Rapids and Redwood City, California then the family moved to Mason City, where he attended school.
He started working with his late brother, Brian who owned Gold Star Drywall. Later on he worked at Tyson Fresh Meat in Waterloo IA, for about 7 years.
Terry loved going fishing as much as he could while the weather was nice. He loved to bring his wife, Awel along with him and his son, Lucas when he could. He always talked about bringing his grandson, Korbin with once he was old enough.
He had a passion for calligraphy and would often make out cards for his family with his calligraphy. He also loved to cook and would always taste his work enough he’d be full before the meal was finished. Terry loved spending time with his grandson, going on short walks to get ice cream and then they would stop at the park where he would watch him play.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Dale, in 2003, and Anna May in 2013, one brother, Brian Dale Northrup in 1996 and sister, Daleann Dusheck in 2020.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Awel; his children, Melissa Eldridge (Brad), Trina Northrup, Lucas Northrup (Heather), and their son Korbin (3); His step children, in Australia, Anelise Knott, Mel Griffiths and Kimberly Bosso; along with his grandchildren in Australia, Two brothers, Mark Allen Northrup and Jeffrey Lee Northrup (Lori); along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Celebration of Terry’s life will be held at the Mason City VFW 1603 S Monroe Ave, from 3-6:30 on Monday, November 6, 2023.
