Ila June Fish, 100, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away November 1, 2023, at the I.O.O. F. Home in Mason City, IA
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 10, 2023, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ila was born June 13, 1923 in Blandinsville, Illinois, daughter of Homer and Lillian (Soring) Freeman.She worked for many years at Good Shepherd and also Mercy Hospital. She was united in marriage to Gerald “ Jerry” Fish October 18, 1941 in Mason City. They were blessed with 4 children and also opened there homes to many foster children. They enjoyed camping and motor cycling which she drove her own Harley Davidson for many years. After retirement they moved to Florida. When Jerry passed away she returned to Mason City and lived many years on her own. She has lived at the I.O.O.F Home since 2017 and was the first to tell you she was well cared for. Her favorite pastime there was Bingo.
Ila is survived by her children, Delbert (Paula) Fish of Colorado Springs, Gary (Kathy) Fish of Mason City, Donna (Bill) Eckard of Clear Lake, and grandchildren Kathy (Doug) Miller, Michelle (Geno) Pyse, Cheryl (Dan) Schultz, Jason (Lori) Fish, Troy (Amy) Eckard, Tonja Eckard, Trent (Shanie) Eckard. 12 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren and the Lyle Hepperly family who loved her dearly.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Jerry; parents, Homer and Lillian; son Jack, brother’s Shelby and Wayne and sister Louise, granddaughter Jamie Battles and a special friend Lyle Hepperly. Memorials may be directed to Christ Church of Mason City or St. Croix Hospice.
