IOWA CITY – Caitlin Clark recorded a triple-double with 34 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds as Iowa rolled to victory over DePaul in front of a record crowd of over 50,000 inside Kinnick Stadium, 94-72.
The Hawkeyes hosted the DePaul Blue Demons inside Kinnick Stadium for the first ever women’s basketball game to be played outdoors in a football stadium. Bluder coined the idea with Interim Athletic Director, Beth Goetz, following Iowa’s national title run in Dallas last year.
With 55,646 in attendance for today’s game, Iowa broke the women’s basketball all-time attendance record of 29,619 previously set by Connecticut and Oklahoma in the 2002 National Title game in San Antonio’s Alamodome.
All net proceeds of the event will benefit The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital; the total came out to over $250,000.
Molly Davis was Iowa’s second-leading scorer with 13 points.
Five Hawkeyes netted double figures.
