Man faces attempted murder charge for Fort Dodge stabbing attack

FORT DODGE – A man was in critical condition after he was stabbed in Fort Dodge over the weekend.

On Saturday, September 9, 2023, at approximately 11:17 P.M., the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call of someone being stabbed in the area of the 10 block N 7th St in Fort Dodge. Officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department and deputies with the Webster County Sheriff’s Office responded.

Upon arrival on scene, a male victim identified as 47‐year‐old Douglas A. Foy was located with a stab wound to the abdomen. Medics with the Fort Dodge Fire Department were called to the scene. The male received medical care and was transported to Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Members of the Patrol Division canvassed the area, conducted interviews, and gathered evidence. The Criminal Investigations Division was called in to assist with the investigation. A suspect was quickly identified and located.

As result of the investigation thus far, 44‐year‐old Donathan L. Williams of Fort Dodge has been taken into custody on the following charge:

•Attempt to Commit Murder (B Felony)

Foy received care from the staff of Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Iowa Methodist in Des Moines in critical condition.

Investigators are continuing to follow up on this incident.

The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Webster County Attorney’s Office, and the Fort Dodge Fire Department.
