Donna Mae (Helling) Gray, 83, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday August 31, 2023 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center with her loving family at her side. She graduated from Mason City High School and North Iowa Area Community College Nursing Program.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Saturday September 9, 2023 at Epiphany Parish – Holy Family Catholic Church, 722 N. Adams Ave., Mason City with Rev. Ben Valentine as celebrant. Burial will be held in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Friday September 8, 2023, with a Scriptural Wake Service beginning at 6:00pm at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE Mason City, IA.

Family encourages memorials to be directed to Epiphany Parish.

Donna Mae Gray was born on July 8, 1940 in Kensett, Iowa to Thomas and Myrtle (Sanden) Helling. She graduated from Mason City High School and North Iowa Area Community College Nursing Program. On December 30, 1959 Donna and Larry Gray were united in marriage in Mason City, Iowa. From this loving union two daughters were born.

Over the years Donna worked as a nurse at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital. She was an active member at Epiphany Parish – Holy Family Church in Mason City, She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and the many trips she and Larry took together. Her greatest joy was the love she had for her family. Donna loved family gatherings. She was in her glory when she was cooking and caring for her loved ones.

Donna will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Larry Gray; daughters, Terri (Dave) Kuntz, Mason City, Tammy (Russ) Hansen Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Cassie (Clay) Shurtz, Mason City, Nikki (Mike) Jones, Mason City, Lindsay (Nick) Wright, Mason City, Ryan (Liz) Hansen, Dike, Iowa, Tyler (Jenna) Hansen, Van Meter, Iowa; great grandchildren; Colton, Claire and Cora Shurtz, Cruz and Jaylee Jones, Kinlee and Landrey Wright, Maisie, Ellerie and Jase Hansen, Saylor and Jonah Hansen; brother, Bob Helling, Longville, Minnesota; sisters, Barbara Gibbs, Galveston, Texas, Betty Shanks, Spokane, Washington; sister-in-laws, Vicki Gray, Georgetown, Texas, Shirley Helling, Cedar Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Myrtle Helling; mother in law and father in law, Ruth and Harold Gray; brothers, Archie Helling and Thomas Helling; sister, Charlotte Jost; brother in laws, Dennis Gray, and Charles Gibbs; sister in law, Marian Helling.
