MASON CITY – Mason City’s Mayor Pro Tem and At Large City Council Member Paul Adams has announced he will be seeking re-election to a second full term on the City Council in Mason City.

Adams, 39, who works for Principal Financial, has served on the City Council since December of 2016 when he was elected to fill the vacant seat left by the late Alex Kuhn. He was elected to his first full term in November of 2019. Adams has also served as Mayor Pro Tem since January of 2018.

“Serving the citizens of Mason City the last 7 years has been the opportunity of a lifetime that I am so grateful for”, Adams said in a press release announcing his re-election campaign. “I am excited to run for the opportunity to serve Mason City for 4 more years and continue with the momentum we have created the last several years with the amenities we have added throughout Mason City, economic development in our main corridors and the responsible spending we have practiced ensuring Mason City is financially stable.”

Since Adams has been on the City Council, Mason City has received numerous awards from state and national organizations, opened the award- winning Mason City Multipurpose Arena and Principal Performing Arts Pavilion, and added over 200 housing units in the downtown area to address a critical housing shortage.

Several economic development projects have been completed or are in progress during Adams’ tenure on the Council which include the Bushel Boy plant opening on the south side of town, EVCO Holdings transforming the former ShopKo building into a facility to manufacture electric golf cars and electric vehicles that is expected to add 100 jobs to the local economy in the first 5 years of operation and Kraft Heinz investing tens of millions of dollars with an expansion of their current plant on the north end of town.

Adams and his wife, Emily, reside in Mason City with their three young sons.
