Jorja Timm, 58, of Sheffield, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at her home. Jorja’s family will host a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 24, 2023, at First Grace Baptist Church in Sheffield. Services will also be hosted by the family at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 25, 2023, at First Grace Baptist Church in Sheffield, with a luncheon to follow in the church fellowship hall. Private family inurnment will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Sheffield is assisting the family with cremation care.

Jorja Kae (Heitland) Timm was born on January 20, 1965 in Buffalo Center. She was the daughter of Alfred and Dorothy (Smith) Heitland. On December 17, 1988, Jorja married Bob Timm in the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center. They shared almost 35 years of marriage together.

Jorja graduated from Buffalo Center High School and then went on to play basketball and softball at Waldorf and later Northwestern College in Orange City where she graduated with a degree in physical education. She taught P.E. for several years in Titonka but then “retired” at a young age to become a stay-at-home mom, and more recently a stay-at-home Oma. Even after leaving the formal workplace, Jorja continued coaching for many years and also deeply enjoyed watching her girls compete in anything and everything.

Jorja and Bob together were always active in their communities and church families – participating in many ministry endeavors and outreach opportunities. Jorja, especially, had a heart for women’s ministry and discipleship for youth and young believers.

Jorja’s faith in Jesus Christ was the most important part of her life and she will be remembered as an intentional disciple-maker and wise encourager. In John 15:5 Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” Jorja prioritized spending time abiding with God and from that, her words overflowed with truth and wisdom from His Word. She did not like small talk but loved to ask the real questions like “what is God doing in your life right now?”. Her incredible faith has left a legacy for many and her family and friends take comfort in knowing Jorja is with Jesus now as her faith has become sight.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bob Timm of Sheffield; daughters, Kelsey (Choupa) Charlemagne of Richfield, Jessi (Tim) Neubauer of Gilbert, Jackie (Jed) Royce of Story City; 7 grandchildren with another on the way; brothers, Tim (Joyce) Heitland of Buffalo Center, Jeff (Bev) Heitland of Winona; mother in law, Mary Timm of Tipton; brothers in law, Ed (Steph) Timm of Mt. Vernon, Russ (Connie) Timm of Tiffin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Al and Dorothy Heitland; a brother, Michael Heitland; and father in law, Roger Timm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for camp scholarships at Hidden Acres Bible Camp.
