Fort Dodge police say two suspects are at large and wanted for attempted murder after recent shooting

FORT DODGE - A recent shooting in Fort Dodge and police investigation into the matter has led to warrants for two men who remain at large on attempted murder charges.

FORT DODGE – A recent shooting in Fort Dodge and police investigation into the matter has led to warrants for two men who remain at large on attempted murder charges.

On Sunday, July 30, 2023, at approximately 8:01 PM, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received multiple calls of shots fired in the area of N 14th St. and 1st Ave. N. in fort Dodge. Callers advised that they heard numerous shots being fired. Officers quickly arrived on scene and located a vehicle that had been struck by gun fire. Upon further investigation from the patrol officers of the Fort Dodge Police Department, witnesses were located in the area as well as physical evidence was collected. Investigators were called in to assist with the investigation.

Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division continued to follow up on this incident. As a result of the ongoing investigation thus far, arrest warrants have been issued for the following suspects:

Austin S. Ferguson of Fort Dodge
•Attempt to Commit Murder (B Felony)
Austin is described as 29 years of age, 6’0” tall, and weighing 256 pounds. Austin should be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Austin, they are encouraged to contact law enforcement immediately.

Jason H. Ferguson of Fort Dodge
•Aiding and Abetting Attempt to Commit Murder (B Felony)
Jason is described as 47 years of age, 5’9” tall, and weighing 220 pounds. Jason should be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Jason, they are encouraged to contact law enforcement immediately.

The Fort Dodge Police Department has been assisted in this investigation by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, The Webster County Attorney’s Office, and the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT).

As part of this investigation, Webster County Crime Stoppers is offering a $250.00 reward to anyone with information which leads to the arrest of these offenders. We are continuing to investigate this incident and encourage anyone with information to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department.
