Arthur “Art” Lines, 73, of Charles City, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
A funeral Mass for Art Lines will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating. Burial will be at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery at Roseville.
Visitation will be at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023, and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
Arthur “Art” T. Lines, the son of Arthur and Olivia (Bredeck) Lines, was born on February 4, 1950, in Charles City, Iowa. He grew up in Marble Rock and attended Rudd, Rockford, Marble Rock School where he graduated in 1968. He then attended the University of Northern Iowa.
On October 6, 1984, Art was united in marriage to Nancy. They raised two children together, Chad and Alex. Art spent many years working as a salesperson. He sold life insurance, women’s shoes, men’s clothing, and then cars at Mike Molstead Motors until he retired. After retirement, he spent his time golfing, reading, cooking, and taxing his grandchildren to school every morning. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Alivia and Brady. He particularly loved watching Brady compete on the baseball field. Art was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching many sports but especially the Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes. Art was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Church. He enjoyed singing in the funeral choir, lectoring, and distributing communion.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Olivia; his in-laws, Bernard and Lillian Schmitt; brothers-in-law, Wesley Stiller and Virgil Schmitt; sister-in-law, Linda Schmitt; and nephew, David Kapping.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son, Chad and his wife, Mariah and their children, Alivia and Brady; his son, Alex and his fiancé, Mekalea; his twin brother, Alan (Sharon) Lines; his sisters, Kay Stiller and Lyla (Phil) Clayton; and numerous extended family members.
