Diane S. Alitz, 63 of Mason City passed away peacefully Sunday, May 21, 2023 in Waterloo.
Diane S. Alitz was born July 23, 1959 in Mason City, the daughter of Harvey and Elaine (Anderson) Alitz. She was raised on the family farm just outside of Plymouth, attending Plymouth School and graduating from North Central High School. She was blessed with a son, Ryan, and the pair made their home in Mason City. Diane’s greatest joy was becoming a mother, she dedicated her life to raising Ryan, and was blessed to become a grandmother.
Diane, a simple woman with a love for crossword puzzles and bingo, found joy in thrift store treasures and exploring downtown shops. Her collection of goofy hats and unique collectibles showcased her charming personality. Though initially reserved, she easily made friends with anyone she met. Animals held a special place in her heart. Her family was the center of her world, and being a grandma brought her the greatest joy. Diane’s life was a delightful mix of simplicity, curiosity, and love.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Ryan (Cassandra Reyes) Alitz of Mason City; grandchildren: Dylan, Michaela, Alexis, Shilynn, and Becca; siblings, Darrell Alitz, Deb (Tim) Thompson, Doug (Laura) Alitz and Duane (Barb) Alitz, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Preceding her in death are her parents, grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.
