April 12, 1927 – May 20, 2023

Jeannette Marie (Buscher) McEnroe was born April 12, 1927 in Humboldt, the daughter of Joe and Marie (Schuller) Buscher. She grew up in Gilmore City for a short time before moving to Algona. She graduated from St. Cecelia Academy in 1945. Following high school, Jeannette helped with her siblings, detasseled, and sorted corn for Pioneer for two years.

On June 1, 1949, Jeannette was united in marriage to James McEnroe at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Algona. After their marriage they lived on a farm East of Algona. Jeannette was a farmwife and did anything and everything on the farm. They farmed the family farm and after retirement stayed on the farm until they moved into Algona in October of 2007.

Jeannette enjoyed sewing and enjoyed making herself, her children, and her grandchildren’s clothing. She also enjoyed dancing with her husband, Jim, gardening, cooking, and baking. Jeannette had all hands on deck when it came to her grandchildren. Together they fished, went snowmobiling, and sledding. She was a very faithful member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, a lifetime member of CDA, a member of new dimensions, and volunteered for anything she could within the church.

Jeannette died Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Homestead of Algona. She was 96.
