April 30, 1957 – May 7, 2023
Steven LeeRoy Kalvig was born April 30th, 1957 in Albert Lea, MN to Carl and Dorothy (Jensen) Kalvig. He grew up in Northwood and later north of Minneapolis where he graduated high school. He worked as a painter and soon learned the skills of a carpenter. He soon built his own company, Kalvig Construction, better known as “Custom Fever”. His favorite question was always: “Would you like the $5 or the $500 model?”.
Steven was a man of many talents, finding joy in hobbies like deer hunting, fishing, and tinkering in his workshop. His skills extended beyond physical creations, as he built many creations around the house including a hydrogen engine, wood burning heaters, pool slides and many more. He was a jack of all trades and a master of none. Steven’s generosity knew no bounds, as he shared his wisdom and instilled a strong work ethic in those around him. His family revered him as a master carpenter, admired for his unmatched skill. As a devoted father, he embraced four children as his own, and was blessed with a fifth, leaving an indelible impact on all of their lives. With a heart of gold and an adventurous spirit, Steven lived a rich and meaningful life.
Those surviving him are his wife, Lorraine Kalvig; daughters, Stacie (Brian) Sliger of Grafton, Jessica Kalvig of Grafton, and Rebekah (Cody) Deetz of Osage; 17 grandchildren; five brothers, Mike (Pam) Lorentzen, Ed (Roberta) Kalvig, Scott (Mary) Kalvig, Johnny Berg, and Carl Kalvig Jr. as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Preceding him in death are his children, Kimberly Gerdom and Jason Steenblock; mother, Dorothy (Chuck) Lorentzen; and father, Carl (Carolyn) Kalvig.
