Cedar Rapids police responded to a call regarding a disturbance in the 3500 block of Oakland Rd NE on Wednesday, May 10. At approximately 10:09 PM, 911 callers reported a disturbance and hearing one shot. Officers arrived on-scene and found a 17-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was treated on-scene and transported to a local hospital for further treatment where he was later pronounced deceased.
Investigators are asking for witnesses to come forward and for anyone with video of the area at that time and place to contact police.
