Norman Kent Orlowski, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 7, 2023 in his Manly, IA home.
Family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Kent was born in Wichita, Kansas, the oldest of four children, son of Norman Henry and Dorthy Mae (Folk) Orlowski. Growing up the family moved multiple times, Bellevue, WA, and Enumclaw, WA, where he graduated from High School. Kent began and ended his work life as a trucker, through which he was given his nickname “Stormin’ Norman”. When it came to hauling hay he was one of the fastest, especially in the state of Washington. At one point Kent took a break from trucking to serve in the United States Air Force as crew chief on an SR71. He had numerous stories from being a part of the Air Force, but often would stop and say, “That’s classified!”. Kent was able to return to trucking and continued working until the day he passed.
Other than being a hard worker, Kent was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and best friend. Kent loved fiercely and would go to great lengths to make sure those he cared about were taken care of.
Kent is mourned by his sons, Kyle Orlowski of Sioux City, IA and Kory Orlowski of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Kayla Mactier and Hunter Kodrea; siblings, Kathleen Case of Juneau, AK, Curtis (Alison) Orlowski of Castle Rock, CO, and Steve (Terrie) Orlowski of Hanlontown, IA; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Kent is preceded in death by his parents, special friend, Julie Paton; and his four legged companion, Bailey.
