Carla Kay Pettinger-Ritter, 64, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Good Shepherd Health Care Center, Mason City, IA.
Family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Carla was born on April 12, 1959, in Waterloo, IA. She grew up in Forest City, IA where she eventually graduated from Forest City High School. Carla was the middle child out of three. She met and married Michael Dennis Ritter on November 7, 1984, together they had three children of their own. Carla loved being a mother and eventually a grandmother.
Carla and Michael spent 25 years together until his passing on June 25, 2009. On June 9, 2015 Carla married Thomas Pettinger, being able to spend seven happy years together.
In her down time she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and multi piece puzzles. Carla’s favorite bands were the Bee Gees and the Eagles, she often had their albums playing in the background. Although cooking might not have been Carla’s favorite thing, she did make a mean chicken and dumpling as well as a meatloaf.
Those left to cherish memories of Carla are her husband, Thomas Pettinger; children, Michael (Brittney) Fingalsen, Starla (Dex) Ritter, and Sherry (Taylor) Ritter; 17 grandchildren, mother, Frances Miller; siblings, Jim (Vonnie) Johns, and Janell (Ron) Danberry; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Carla is preceded in death by her first husband, Michael; and her father, Al Miller.
