David Alan Gaskill was born May 3, 1942 to Donald and Leone Gaskill of rural Northwood and grew up with his five siblings on the family farm. David graduated from Northwood Kensett High School in 1960. Following graduation, he attended the police academy, serving as a police officer in Lake Mills. On October 30, 1970 he married Susan Jaspers, also from Northwood, and the couple bought a farm in rural Adams, MN in 1972. Together they farmed 450 acres, milked cows and had around 200 head of cattle. David treasured being on the farm and lived there until August 2022.
He took great pride in his dairy cows and looked forward to researching his next purchase. David enjoyed helping with 4-H projects, going to the sale barn, county fairs and parades, and occasionally attending grandsons’ ball games. On Sundays he looked forward to going to church and coming home to watch the Minnesota Vikings. Around 1995 he sold the dairy cows, building a hog confinement and had 1600 head.
