BONDURANT, IOWA – A student displayed a weapon in a high school parking lot, prompting police to race to the scene to investigate the incident.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service at the Bondurant High School in reference to a student with a weapon in the parking lot on April 21, 2023 at 10:07 AM. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer was alerted by the school principal that a student was observed showing a weapon in the school parking lot.
The school resource officer and responding deputies made contact with the student. After receiving parental consent, the vehicle was searched and an airsoft gun was recovered and secured.
This has been found to be an isolated incident, police say, and there is no threat to the other students at the school.
The investigation into this incident remains active and no other information is available at this time.
