Dianna Weig, age 73, of Algona passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Thursday at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish ~ St. Cecelia in Algona. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona with a rosary starting at 4:45 PM. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.

Dianna Veronica (Gisch) Weig was born on November 20, 1949 to Francis (Barney) and Irene Gisch at St. Ann Hospital in Algona, lowa. She was raised in Algona and graduated from Algona High School in 1968. She worked various jobs throughout her life starting with walking beans for her Uncle Johnny to working at JCPenney, The Blue and White Cafe, Alco, working for Chuck Behr and then babysitting grandchildren and children of friends and family.

Dianna liked sewing, fixing cars, trivia, playing cards and was an avid TV watcher. She loved watching The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Jay Leno. She was a great cook and baked the best banana bread. Dianna’s home had an open-door policy; the kids’ friends were always welcome and no one left with an empty belly. She always made sure there was more than enough food just in case there were extra mouths to feed.

She is survived by her children Janine Gisch of Algona, Jeff (Kelly) Gisch of Lone Rock, Heather VanDenHemel of Algona, Bill (Kathy) Weig of Algona, Tessa (Tony) Jaques of Algona and Mandy (Mike) Weig of Algona; her grandchildren Jacob (Maggie) Gisch, Maddie Gisch, Michael VanDenHemel, Christian (Jamie) Jaques, Veronica (Dakota) Weig, Ben Weig, Ethan Teply, Emily Weig, Brandon Charlton and Joseph Weig; she also has 2 great-grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter on the way. Also surviving her are her siblings Lillian Capesius, Miriam Kiley, Garry (Bessie) Gisch, Sandra Gray, Darlene (Curt) Johnson and Randy Gisch.

She was preceded in death by her parents Francis (Barney) and Irene Gisch, infant grandson George, infant brother Francis, brother David Gisch, and brother-in-law Thomas Capesius.
